The European Economic and Social Committee will again be hosting a series of its successful literature lunches this summer.
Renowned international authors will give selected readings from their novels in their original language. Guests will also be provided with texts of the readings in French.
In coherence with the guiding principle of this European Year, the literature lunches intend to give a voice to authors who express the concerns of people who live in poverty and suffer social exclusion, and to inspire every European citizen to engage with these issues. This year, the literary readings also challenge stereotypes as well as different perceptions of poverty and social exclusion.
If you are interested in current social issues, are aware of the fight against poverty and are ready to discover unconventional human destinies, then we would be very happy to welcome you on the terrace of the EESC to enjoy our literature lunches in the Brussels sunshine!
Each event runs on Thursdays from 12.30 until 2pm. After the reading, guests can ask the author questions and make comments. A light lunch is available after the reading. If the weather is good, the readings will be on the EESC’s terrace,
The readings will be carried out in cooperation with EUNIC Brussels and the Permanent Representation of Slovakia in Brussels.
